Microcurrent therapy (Ultimate/CACI)

If you’re looking for skin tag removal in Bishop’s Stortford, you’re certainly not alone. Skin tags are extremely common, usually harmless growths that can appear on areas where skin rubs against skin, including the neck, underarms, eyelids and beneath the breasts.
Although they are generally nothing to worry about, you may choose to have a skin tag removed if it catches on clothing or jewellery, becomes irritating or you simply don’t like its appearance.
At Skin by Dr Caroline in Bishop’s Stortford, we offer CryoPen treatment for suitable skin tags following an appropriate consultation. Our approach is simple: don’t treat something just because you can. First, make sure treatment is appropriate.

Skin tags are small pieces of soft tissue that can appear to hang from the surface of the skin. They can be skin-coloured, slightly darker or more pigmented and can vary considerably in size.
They commonly develop in areas where there is friction or skin folds.
Most skin tags are benign and don’t require treatment. However, if a growth is changing, becoming painful or bleeding, it should be assessed by an appropriate medical professional rather than simply treated as a cosmetic skin tag.
We will not attempt to remove a lesion simply because someone believes it is a skin tag.
That is an important part of our approach.
At our Bishop’s Stortford clinic, suitable skin tags can be treated using CryoPen, a form of targeted cryotherapy. Our Bishop’s Stortford clinic specifically lists CryoPen among its treatments for skin imperfections including skin tags.
The CryoPen delivers a precise stream of nitrous oxide to freeze the targeted tissue. The treated area then undergoes a natural healing process, with the skin tag eventually separating from the surrounding skin.
The treatment is designed to be targeted, with the aim of treating the skin tag while minimising unnecessary treatment to the surrounding skin.
Everyone’s experience is different, but CryoPen treatment is generally well tolerated. You may experience a cold, sharp or tingling sensation during treatment, followed by some temporary redness or sensitivity.
Your practitioner will explain what to expect during your consultation and provide appropriate aftercare advice.
As with any procedure that affects the skin, there can be risks including irritation, changes in pigmentation and scarring. This is particularly important to consider for people with darker skin tones, where post-inflammatory pigmentation can occur after skin injury. NHS guidance also highlights the possibility of scarring and hyperpigmentation following skin tag removal.
We don’t believe that every skin concern requires an elaborate treatment programme.
Sometimes the best treatment is a straightforward one.
At Skin by Dr Caroline, our philosophy is natural plus: helping you improve something that bothers you while keeping the result natural and appropriate to you.
Our Bishop’s Stortford clinic is based at 11 Riverside Walk, where our team provides personalised consultations and skin treatments in a medically led environment.
We’re happy to explain what we think is appropriate, what the treatment involves and what you can realistically expect afterwards.
And if we don’t think a lesion should be treated as a skin tag, we’ll tell you.
If you have a skin tag that is bothering you aesthetically or catching on clothing or jewellery, book a consultation with our Bishop’s Stortford team.
We’ll assess the area, discuss your options and explain whether CryoPen is appropriate.
Because good skin treatment isn’t about treating everything. It’s about treating the right thing, in the right way.
