At Skin by Dr Caroline, we understand how frustrating and unpredictable rosacea can be. This chronic skin condition often affects both appearance and comfort, but with expert care and targeted treatment, flare-ups can be effectively managed, and skin health significantly improved.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a long-term inflammatory skin condition that primarily affects the face, leading to persistent redness, visible blood vessels, flushing, and sometimes bumps or pimples that resemble acne. In some cases, it can also cause eye irritation (ocular rosacea) and skin thickening, particularly around the nose.It typically appears on the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin, and can range from mild to severe. While rosacea is not contagious or dangerous, it can have a significant impact on self-confidence and quality of life.

Causes of Rosacea

The exact cause of rosacea is unclear, but factors include genetics, immune dysfunction, environmental triggers, vascular changes, and sensitive skin. The expert team at Skin by Dr Caroline uses advanced diagnostics and tailored treatments to identify triggers, reduce inflammation, and restore skin balance. With ongoing care, rosacea can be effectively managed, helping you regain confidence in your skin.

What treatments do we offer for rosasea?

AlumierMD Facial

A targeted anti-ageing treatment using medical-grade AlumierMD products to exfoliate, brighten, and rejuvenate the skin. Lactic and salicylic acids boost cell turnover, smooth fine lines, can reduce inflammation in with redness-prone skin by reducing detoxing and controlling bacteria, and improve texture. Ideal for mature or sun-damaged skin, it also addresses pigmentation. We include LED therapy in our AlumierMD facials to reduce bacterial growth and further calm inflammation.

ENQUIRE

DermaLux LED

DermaLux LED Therapy is a non-invasive treatment using clinically proven blue, red, and near-infrared light to address rosacea, acne, inflammation, and scarring. Red light reduces redness and inflammation, calms irritated skin, and boosts collagen. Near-infrared light penetrates deeper to accelerate healing, strengthen the skin barrier, and improve resilience.

ENQUIRE

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments from salmon or trout, used to repair and regenerate skin at a cellular level. Ideal for sensitive skin, including rosacea, they reduce inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier, stimulate collagen production, and boost hydration and elasticity. Unlike fillers, they support natural skin healing and biorejuvenation.

ENQUIRE

Advanced Nutrition Programme (ANP)

Advanced Nutrition Programme (ANP) supplements target skin sensitivities from within by balancing inflammation, regulating oil, and supporting gut health. Unlike topical treatments, they address root causes internally. Offered alongside in-clinic care, our team provides personalised advice to support your skin goals.

ENQUIRE

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that eliminates thread veins (telangiectasia) on the face, nose, and legs. Using thermocoagulation, a high-frequency current collapses and seals the vein, which the body then absorbs. It effectively reduces broken capillaries and redness, making it ideal for managing rosacea symptoms without downtime.

ENQUIRE

Persistent Redness (Erythema) - Ongoing dilation of blood vessels leads to a flushed appearance, especially across the cheeks, nose, and forehead.

Visible blood vessels (telangiectasia) - Fine red lines appear on the surface of the skin due to broken or enlarged capillaries.

Papules and pustules - Acne-like bumps and spots that may resemble breakouts but are not caused by clogged pores.

Burning or stinging sensation - Many individuals experience skin sensitivity, tightness, or discomfort, especially when using certain skincare products or during flare-ups.

Dryness and peeling - The skin barrier can become compromised, leading to dry, flaky, or rough patches.

Thickened skin - In some cases — often in men — the skin (particularly on the nose) becomes thickened and bumpy, known as rhinophyma.

Eye involvement - Can cause dry, red, irritated, or watery eyes, along with a gritty or burning sensation. If untreated, it may lead to more serious eye complications.

Emotional and psychological impact - Rosacea can affect confidence, self-esteem, and overall quality of life, particularly when flare-ups are frequent or visible.
